I saw this interesting article about algorithms for touching up photographs based on images available in a large collection written up in a BBC article. The idea is to analyze the photo, find a matching bit from another one and then paste them together seemlessly.

Looks like some cool technology. I can’t wait to get this in Picasa but heh, I can already do this when I’m painting….

This morning I varnished by last picture (it isn’t online yet). It is rather yellow and is called “Sunrise over Beit Shemesh”. I photographed the reference on a misty summer morning from the balcony at the back of my apartment. It shows the sun just peeking over the top of the hills to the west of Beit Shemesh and the tops of some ugly houses at the end of Rehov (Street) Bar Ilan. Here it is.
