As of yesterday, I am now represented at Nofim Gallery in Jerusalem! The five pictures you see above are all on sale there.

This is a personal milestone to be represented for the first time in a commercial gallery and hopefully the start of bigger things.

The Nofim Gallery is a relatively new gallery run by a fellow ex-Brit. It is located in the gallery (and trendy restaurant) area of downtown Jerusalem, literally a minute from the walls of the Old City in one direction and the bustling Jaffa Road in the other.

I now need to update my website and start up some publicity.

Fame and fortune! I have been featured on the cover of the latest edition of “The H.O.B. Magazine” – the quarterly magazine put out by the Hitachdut Olei Britannia or for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about the association of British immigrants in Israel.

Apart from the cover spread, a shortened biography appears at the bottom of the inside cover with the address to my website.

While this may not be the most widely distributed journal in the world (or even in Israel), this sure is an honoUr (UK spelling) and hopefully it may bring some interest for sales.

The choice of the featured painting was by the editor of the magazine. It shows a meadow near Beit Shemesh pictured on a Spring morning. Maybe it reminded her of the lush meadows of England :-).

The Beit Shemesh Festival 2007 (the “Shemeshfest”) starts tomorrow. If you haven’t seen the colorful prospectus yet (they stuck one in our mailbox, another in the local paper and I found a few blowing down the street in the wind) you can go to the link I linked above to read all about it.

There is a lot going on! However the most important part is the art show in the RBS where I will be showing along with a group of other highly talented artists from the Beit Shemesh and Adulam area (“Adulam” is the area south of Beit Shemesh).

The exhibit opens tomorrow (Sunday 30th September) at 4pm and it is open till 8pm. At 6pm there will be an official opening ceremony. On Monday the exhibition is open from 1pm to 8pm.

My paintings will be on show for the full length of the show but I will be there in person on Monday afternoon only.

There will be various activities for children going on at the Matnas and there is supposed to be a Sukkah there and food on sale. On Monday evening at 6pm there will be a concert put on by the Beit Shemesh conservatory.

With Sukkot just round the corner it is Beit Shemesh Festival time again.

As last year, there will be an art exhibition on both days of the festival. The exhibition will be again at the Ramat Beit Shemesh Matnas. I don’t know how many people are displaying apart from me.

I will be displaying on the afternoon of the second day of the festival only – Monday 1st October. I am told that there is going to be a concert at the Matnas on that afternoon.

I will have a lot of my work on display and for sale. Make sure to come!

Just in case you don’t know, the Beit Shemesh Festival is an annual festival of Jewish rock music that has taken place for the last decade or so every Sukkot in the Beit Shemesh “amphi”. Last year the festival was extended to include other activities including an art exhibition.

Hot off the press. Looks like there is going to be an art exhibition for the Beit Shemesh festival this year after all, only not as big as we were planning. We were going to put on ashow with a theme and acceptance criteria and there isn’t going to be enough time to arrange that. The show will be in much the same format as last year. Brenda Ganot just sent an email out about it now to the Beit Shemesh list.

We are now planning the exhibition in the winter around Hanukka time.

The interesting part is that several of us Beit Shemesh artists are getting together to form a kind of cooperative group to put on shows and market ourselves. There is a similar organization already in Mateh Yehuda called Omanei HaElah. This is an exciting development. Maybe Beit Shemesh artists will get on the map.

I haven’t written about this yet, coz this is a new blog but I have been running a special summer offer that has been previously promoted on the Beit Shemesh email list. The offer runs till the end of the Hagim and goes like this.

If you live in Beit Shemesh or somewhere nearby and you have guests staying from abroad who are looking for artwork, then send them my way. If they buy a piece for over NIS 1000, then I will give you another painting for 33% off the standard price.

To see what I’m offering, just follow the link on the right hand side to my site rafistern.com. Call me or email me to set up a meeting. Note that I can come to you as well with my paintings.
